Esther was a girl that God used to help His people in a very special way. She was a Jew, living a very long way from home, in a country where the Jews were looked at with suspicion. She lived over 500 years before Jesus was on earth, in Persia (the country we now call Iran.) Interestingly enough, the book of Esther doesn’t contain any direct references to God. It is the only book in the Bible like this. We don’t know why God chose to inspire the book in this way, but we can see that God is the invisible force behind many of the events taking place in the book.
